Happiest of birthdays to the best thing the internet ever brought me, and the reason for my frequent travel to Dallas! Nine years, two weddings, two babies (both hers), and who knows how many airline miles later, I’m so glad I picked you up at BWI and didn’t listen to warnings of stranger danger. Thank god we were both flailing millennial bloggers just trying to process our lives by writing about it for the whole internet to read... 😂 Happy Birthday, M! ❤️
On this New Year’s Day, we’re throwing it back to when we spent New Year 2016-2017 in a secluded cabin in the mountains of Virginia.
.
You see, we met on New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31, 2014), so we celebrate that as our dating anniversary. In 2016, we got engaged, so we wanted to get away to celebrate our anniversary and New Year's Eve––our last before we got married.
.
They say how you spend NYE is how you'll spend the rest of the year. So for us in 2016, that was staying in a beautiful cabin in the mountains of Virginia with no cell phone service and not a soul encountered within miles. Taking a 5-mile hike during the day. Sitting by a fire that night with the love of my life, talking about our hopes, dreams, and goals.
.
Some of our dreams from 2 years ago are the same; many have changed. But we’re still dreaming, planning, and doing. That getaway led to an amazing 2017 for us. 2018 was rough, but I have a feeling 2019 is going to be our year.
.
Happy New Year to all!
